editor(s) Ardeshir Mahdavi & Bob Martens
Vienna University of Technology"
summary The present special issue of the Journal Information Technology in Construction entails a selection of papers initially presented at the 10th ECPPM (European Conference on Product and Process Modelling) conference, held September 2014 and hosted by the Department of Building Physics and Building Ecology of the Vienna University of Technology, Austria. ECPPM conference series has provided a fruitful platform for the presentation and discussion of the most recent advances with regard to the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) applications in the AEC/FM (Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Facilities Management) domains. The present selection of – substantially revised and extended – papers from ECPPM 2014 include high-quality contributions pertaining to ICT deployment instances in AEC/FM, covering topics related to:
  • BIM (Building Information Modelling)
  • ICT in Civil engineering & Infrastructure
  • Computational decision support
  • Commissioning, monitoring & occupancy
  • Ontology, data models, and IFC (Industry Foundation Classes)
  • Energy modelling
  • Thermal performance simulation
  • Model calibration
  • Project & construction management
  • Data & information management
  • Intelligent building systems control
As the editors of this special issue, we would like to acknowledge the strong and active community of academics, researchers, software developers, and industry experts in view of their excellent contributions to the field, as selectively manifested in the present collection of the papers. We specially thank Dr Ulrich Pont for his assistance toward the preparation of the present special issue.
